How do You feel about our State’s adopting the Mexican schools curriculum?
With the risk of sounding xenophobic, the idea of implementing a Mexican educational curriculum in Oregon poses a dangerous precedent. With the risk of sounding xenophobic, the idea of implementing a Mexican educational curriculum in Oregon poses a dangerous precedent. By grafting Mexican scholastic material onto American academia, we are dispensing of the (essential) idea of assimilation, and instead are adopting a Balkanization of our education system. I am not implying that Mexican curricula is inferior, but the cultural significance of latino subjects is irrelevant to the culture of America in general, and Oregon society in particular. I look at this through the lens of the global situation. In his excellent book, “The Clash of Civilizations” (which I recommend to everyone), Professor Samuel P. Huntington stated (in 1993) that we would see the rise of a fundamentalist Islamic civilization. As a fundamentalist, polemical entity, the Islamic civilization would inspire a equally polemical reaction in any oppossing civilization (i.e. the West). As Huntington says: “Nothing defines us more as to what we are, than what we are not.” What happens, however, when the communal realization of what it means to be a western civilization is blurred by the teaching of cultural relativism and the importation of civilization-sensitive curricula? American history and civics topics are not just criticized, but are actively maligned and disparaged. The foundation of our youth’s understanding of what makes this country great and different is, thus, incredibly weakened or totally absent.

How can a company like myspace and face book be worth a billion with out generating revenue.?

I think the reason the Myspace and Facebook are both such huge money makers is - yes - due to the advertising, but even more in the sense that the target market is so well defined. If company A is trying to sell cute pink shoes, then they’re going to hawk the ads at some who would be into cute pink shoes (a generalization, i know); say, a teenage girl. If company A were to pay for advertisements anywhere else, they can’t really guarantee that the teenage girl will be there, nor can they guarantee that the teenage girl will be coming back to the site again. With these social networking sites, the target audience is way too well defined (Look at all the stats you give them), and not to mention how addicting these sites are. People keep coming back, again and again, to network with their peers, and in turn, see the same ad over and over. Does it have an affect? Sure it does! I just can’t imagine that Facebook is worth 15 billion dollars. Everyone called Zuckerburg crazy for not selling at 1 million.

Add me to those recommending the San Juan Capistrano and Santa Barbara destinations. I’d also recommend Los Angeles for a fun day trip as there’s all kind of transit around the area from LA Union Station…gold line to Pasadena, Big Blue Bus to Santa Monica, Metrolink to all kinds of destinations. For a longer trip you might consider the overnight trip to Portland Oregon or Seattle Washington. Leave San Diego at around 6:30 am to Los Angeles, then transfer to a train going up the coast for fantastic views. By the time you get to the Bay Area it’s night so not much to see there, but when you wake up the next morning you are in northern CA/southern Oregon in beautiful surroundings. I’m not sure if they still do this, but in southern Oregon they’d have a tour guide board the train in the observation car and point out all kinds of interesting sites as you’d go thru southern Oregon, pointing out waterfalls and telling stories of the history of the area that are very interesting. You can either choose to get off at Portland in the early afternoon, or continue on to Seattle, in which case it pulls in at night.

Is it ok if my oxygen sensors are reversed on my car?
The same sensor is used in both positions — no problem with that is possible. The wiring won’t even begin to reach from the upper to the one downstream of the catalytic converter if you try to swap the connectors on the two sensors — no problem with that is possible. Unless someone has been […]

The same sensor is used in both positions — no problem with that is possible. The wiring won’t even begin to reach from the upper to the one downstream of the catalytic converter if you try to swap the connectors on the two sensors — no problem with that is possible. Unless someone has been fooling around with the wiring (literally swapping pins in a connector or doing some serious cut and splice work in your harness), it’s not possible to “reverse” them. IF, on the other hand, someone HAS been fiddling around with the wiring such that these two have been reversed, then yes, it’s a real problem as it will be seriously fouling up the computer’s understanding of your pre-converter mixture at the “upper” sensor. The “upper” pre-converter one is important to how well your engine runs. The post-converter (”lower̶
one just provides an indication of how well your emissions controls are operating. .

I bought a new car & was stupid enough to buy the extended warranty program for $1500.?

Do you have a girlfriend that could be you for you if you know what I mean? Call as you and cancel it? The extended warranty is another chance for them to stick it to you before they let you out the door. Look in the mirror and say out loud. ” I have looked over the contract and I have time to cancel this warranty policy and that is what I want to do. Please cancel it for my car!” Practice like it is for a made for TV movie. Do it goofy style, be outrageous, say it with a accent. Do it enough times that it is second nature and you don’t think of this oppressive jerk using his brooding to strong arm you into something you don’t want. SO when you can just say that you want to cancel call the Warranty company or the dealership and tell them that is what you want. Maybe even call when no one is there and leave a message saying that you want to cancel. I would say you need to do this and feel the strength of all women everywhere that have finally had enough of these overbearing jerks selling overpriced scams to them. They are standing with you as you make that call and tell him you are canceling that warranty thank you very much. Do it, you can. Edit: Yes yes yes! what that guy, Maya’s Dad, said! That is the way to solve this. I just want you to feel empowered and not let pushy sales people step on you anymore.

It’s because the people cooking the food are not very skilled and their taste buds are not in working order. They eat crap food as part of their diet, and when they take a taste of that veggie dish they just make… tastes like nothing to them, so they throw in some spices… They probably dump salt and pepper in there too — all poor cooks rely on salt and pepper. I see supposedly professional cooks relying on salt and pepper — pathetic. It depends on the country and region — it’s a pretty popular dish all across the middle east and up into Greece down into India, and beyond. I believe falafel is typically wheat bulger, beans, and parsley and spices made into a shape and fried or deep fried. Although, I am guessing that the deep frying is a modern cooking method — where I live, often you can choose from deep-fried or baked, as the baked option has become popular for health reasons. At home, I just bake falafel in a casserole dish in the toaster oven. So much easier and healthier than deep frying — no mess to clean up or oil in the air too.
